TOP 10 BEST MOVIES OF THE LAST YEAR
1. Logan - Immortal Logan has gotten pretty old by now. And he discovers he has one last mission to accomplish: protecting his progeny, Laura, and the last mutant legacy.
2. Thor: Ragnarok - It seems that Asgard is overwhelmed by the dark forces. Once again. Hela, the goddess of (you won't even guess this one!) hell is unleashed, causing death and havoc all around. So Thor, the famous chunk, alongside his cunning brother, Loki, and the big fellow, Hulk, are the trio in charge of protecting it.
3. Atomic Blonde - Full of conspiracies, this movie is about an undercover British agent who is sent to Berlin to discover the plot set up by a former agent and to recover one missing register. Not to mention the sassy-classy parts when Lorraine kicks ass and viceversa.
4. Logan Lucky - 3 brothers are planning a heist during a NASCAR race. The scheme is working, except that one of them is losing his hand (and his calmness), one of their associates is illegally "bailed" out of jail, not to mention that the FBI is after them. Other than that, everything's just peachy.
5. Blade Runner 2049 - Having more plot than the original 1982 version , Blade Runner 2049 has been one of the most expected movies of the year. Following the story of the constant pursue of replicants by the empowered, more-rightful humans, this film is a graphic form of art creating a distant utopic future in which philosophy and technology are intertwined.
6. Dunkirk - One more war drama about the Nazi attack on the northern coast of France. This movie revolves around the evacuation of the Allied party from the Dunkirk port, the so called "church in the dunes".
7. War for the Planet of the Apes - Yet another remake brought back to our attention, which represents the end of another philosophical trilogy revolving aroung the eternal war between the two species - us, humans, and our predecessors, in darwinian perspective, the apes.
8. IT - A scary as hell clown fathered by children's deepest fears is haunting the small town called Derry, killing multiple victims. Inspired by the famous Stephen King's eponymous novel, this movie has had its first screen adaptation in 1990, in which the role of Pennywise has been played by Tim Curry.
9. Baby Driver - Countless bank robberies, different intervation teams, the same tinitus-struck genius driver and of course, the unmatchable Kevin Spacey. Let alone the exceptional soundtrack and the flawless dialogue. Cheerful, yet witty, this action movie is, in my opinion, one of the last year's masterpieces.
10. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 - Not so critically appreciated as the former movie, the latter part of the series has still been long-awaited by its eager fans. With little Groot so adorable, a more philosophical Drax, a father-figure-like Rocket and a feisty couple - Gamora and Star-Lord, the action is NOT about to be cooling off. On the contrary! More problems are coming, the universe in is peril again, and our super-heroes :) need to intervene once more.
And now, a few honorable mentions:
- Ghost in the Shell
- King Arthur: Legend of the Sword
- Kingsman: The Golden Circle
- Murder on the Orient Express
Don't forget to vote for your favorite last year's movie!
